GENUINE VELOUR / SPLIT LEATHER / NUBUCK

Take care of your velour footwear before you start wearing it by applying a water- and dirt-repellent (hydrophobic) spray designed for suede.

To keep suede, velour, or nubuck shoes in good condition, regularly brush the surface of dry footwear with a clean, medium-bristle brush to remove dirt. Do not do this while the shoes are wet, as it will only make the dirt penetrate deeper.

Cleaning suede shoes with foam at home:

  • Choose professional, proven cleaning products suitable for split leather and velour.

  • Suede/velour should only be cleaned with a brush — cloths and sponges can damage the texture.

  • Clean suede/nubuck/velour evenly, treating the entire surface with the cleaning product and brushing with strokes both along and against the nap (avoid circular motions).

  • If excess foam remains on the material during cleaning, blot it gently with microfiber or a soft tissue (do not rub).

  • Dry the shoes with shoe trees inside, at room temperature, away from radiators and heaters (excessive drying will make velour stiff and prone to cracking over time).

  • While drying and afterward, lift the nap with a dry, medium-bristle brush or a special rubber suede brush.

For stubborn stains on velour, such as from food, cosmetics, or similar substances, it is best to contact a professional dry cleaner. Before storing your shoes between seasons, we recommend a full professional care treatment: cleaning off dirt, restoring shape, moisturizing the nap, and refreshing the color.
