HOW TO MEASURE FOOT

  • Place your foot on a sheet of paper and trace it with a pencil. Hold the pencil perfectly vertical to the paper, without tilting it.

  • Mark with the pencil two extreme points of the foot: at the tip of the big toe and at the center of the heel.

  • Measure the ball girth: wrap the measuring tape around the two most prominent parts of the ball of the foot (the widest part where the toes begin). Usually, there are small bones on each side — measure approximately at that level.

  • Measure the instep girth: wrap the measuring tape evenly around the bone located on the instep.

  • Measure the diagonal instep: place the tape under the heel, then wrap it around the start of the ankle. Record and note these measurements.

  • Measure the foot length: draw a straight line between the extreme points and record the length.

  • If you are measuring for boots or high shoes, also measure calf girth.

  • First, measure the ankle girth (at a height of 10–12 cm).

  • Then, every 5 cm upward, measure until you reach the widest part of the calf.

  • Record the girth of the widest part of the calf and note the height at which it occurs.
